From Monday, October 18, schoolchildren in 12 new departments will no longer be required to wear the mask at school. They are in addition to those of the 67 departments already affected by this measure. On the other hand, in Lozère, the mask will become compulsory again.
This is good news for students from CP to CM2. According to a decree published in the official journal target = “_ blank”> this Thursday morning, 12 new departments will no longer require students to wear masks in schools from Monday, October 18. For at least five consecutive days, the contamination thresholds were indeed less than 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Here is the list of the 12 departments, which are added to the 68 departments already concerned:
- Ain,
- Ariège,
- Charente,
- Dear,
- Drome,
- Gard,
- Herault,
- Moselle,
- Haut-Rhin,
- Var,
- Haute-Vienne and
- Seine et Marne.
For the first time, a department of Ile de France is concerned. This is Seine-et-Marne.
As the decree specifies, the teachers will not have the chance to uncover their faces. Note: in middle and high schools, the rules for wearing masks indoors for staff and adolescents remain in force.
Masks aren’t the only restriction that schools in these departments will remove. Students will no longer need to have lunch as a class and at the same table every day, and all sports activities will be allowed both indoors and outdoors.
The mask again compulsory in schools in Lozère
On the other hand, although things are improving in some departments, this is not the case for Lozère. Children will have to wear the mask again from next Monday. The government put the department back on the list of departments in which the mask is mandatory because the incidence rate is again very high. The number of cases increased by 268% in one week.
23 departments still hidden
On Thursday, October 7, the list of departments in which the obligation is maintained was published by decree in the Official Journal. There remained therefore 33 departments where the wearing of the mask was imposed on the pupils.
