Illegal stay – asylum seekers picked up again in Vorarlberg

Asylum seekers who should not have been in Vorarlberg were picked up again on Wednesday morning during a foreign police check in the ÖBB Nightjet.

Of the total of 48 passengers checked, 37 were subject to an upright territorial restriction for the Baden near Vienna area (Lower Austria). Two of the people checked did not have any travel documents or residence cards with them and were arrested for illegal residence. One of the two men had also checked a prison sentence in Slovakia up to the day before – a return to the neighboring country has already been requested. In the past few weeks, asylum seekers have been picked up again and again in Vorarlberg – their destination was mostly Switzerland. As a rule, they are sent back to Lower Austria, and an ad is filed.
