“I’m not against it”: what if The Walking Dead finally returned for a season 12?

The former showrunner of the series “The Walking Dead” has not closed the door to a surprise return of the horror series for a twelfth season!

What if The Walking Dead wasn’t really over… The broadcast on November 20, 2022 of the final episode of the series did not really make an impression, particularly because of the numerous spin-offs announced even before the end of the program (a choice which had been strongly criticized by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the interpreter of Negan).

Since the end of the series, two new spin-offs have seen the light of day: Dead City (to be found on OCS) centered on Negan and Maggie, and Daryl Dixon (with Norman Reedus) to be discovered on Paramount+ from November 10. The mini-series The Ones Who Live (with Rick Grimes and Michonne) will be broadcast in spring 2024 in the United States.

Although they are not directly linked, these three new series nevertheless take place in the same universe. And it would therefore seem surprising that the paths of these emblematic heroes of the Walking Dead franchise do not cross again, during crossover episodes for example.

The possibility that these characters will be reunited again in a single series cannot be ruled out either. In an interview given to our American colleagues on the site ComicBook.comfranchise showrunner Scott Gimple clarified that no crossover was currently planned, but that the plan to see the plot of these series converge was “his dream”.

And quite surprisingly, the latter did not close the door to a return of The Walking Dead for a season 12! “I am not against” replied the latter to the question asked by our colleagues, an answer which therefore suggests the hope of a totally improbable return of the most famous horror series!

The complete series The Walking Dead can be found now on Netflix.
