“With (the Minister of Labor) Olivier Dussopt, we are committed to this article” of the bill expected next Monday in the Senate, he declared on BFMTV. With Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne, “we are all attached to this balance”, he insisted. “Do we imagine for a single moment that the senatorial right (…) will refuse to vote on a text because we say, independently of the fact that we are going to simplify the procedures, independently of the fact that we are going to expel the delinquent foreigners, that we are going to be able to have in France, people who work in our restaurants and in our agriculture?” he questioned.
Asked about the possibility of a motion of censure, mentioned by the president of LR Éric Ciotti if the government “passes in force” on this article 3, he replied: “Come on, come on, it’s not reasonable”. “What is reasonable is to be tough with delinquent foreigners and integrate those who want to work.”
“We will find a compromise, but the compromise is to do it on a basis of efficiency and justice,” continued the minister. It is not “throwing into the sea all those who work, respect the rules of the Republic, vibrate to the sound of the Marseillaise and work very hard”. Gérald Darmanin also responded remotely to the vice-president of the Assembly Naïma Moutchou (Horizons) who said she was “unfavorable” to article 3, seeing in it “a form of encouragement to illegal immigration”. The minister considered this “completely false”.
