Guest of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews, Bruno Retailleau, president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, returned to the adoption of the immigration bill. For him, the fact that Marine Le Pen claims an ideological victory for her party proves that the member for Pas-de-Calais is an opportunist.

Parliament definitively approved the immigration law this Tuesday, December 19. Within the different political camps, the atmospheres are different. At Sonia Mabrouk’s microphone, Bruno Retailleau, president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, spoke about his party’s satisfaction after the adoption of this bill, but also about Marine Le Pen’s latest statements. This Tuesday, December 19, the member for Pas-de-Calais considered that this adoption of the bill was an “ideological victory” for her National Rally.

“The National Rally, at each stage, opposed the text”

“We can rejoice in an ideological advance, an even ideological victory for the National Rally, since national priority is now enshrined in this law, that is to say the advantage given to the French over the foreigners present on our territory in access to a certain number of social benefits which are today subject to conditions for foreigners that are not severe enough for our taste”, declared the candidate for the last presidential election in front of journalists present at The national assembly.

For Bruno Retailleau, it shows opportunism. “I recognize Marine Le Pen’s sense of opportunism. I know who contributed to this text or who did not. I know for example that the National Rally, at each stage, opposed the text . I remember that the RN senators opposed the text. I experienced all those hours of the Joint Joint Commission where the representatives of the National Assembly tabled amendments to oppose a certain number of provisions. She did something. She knows how to do it, she’s been in politics for a very long time,” reported Bruno Retailleau on Sonia Mabrouk’s microphone.

“She is flying to the aid of the victory that was promised to us anyway. She shares a small part of it when in reality, she has done nothing,” added the senator from Vendée. Even if the Republicans and the National Rally have points of dissonance, they agree on others. “Basically, we agree on the fact. Social assistance is not a right. National solidarity is earned. And the meaning of a national community is that there is citizens and foreigners and they do not have the same rights”, concluded Bruno Retailleau.
