The Minister of Budget and Public Accounts Gabriel Attal, was the guest of Europe morning this Thursday. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the former government spokesperson returned to the new asylum and immigration bill, presented by Gérald Darmanin, and in particular to the possibility of granting residence permits to help trades in shortage of workforce.
“Kind with the good guys, mean with the bad guys”. This is what Gérald Darmanin wants to do with his new immigration bill. The Minister of the Interior also wishes to promote the employment of immigrants in sectors with labor shortages, thanks to new residence permits for sectors in tension. Guest on Europe 1 this Thursday morning, Gabriel Attal supports the project. “We must stop being hypocritical on the subject of undeclared work”, assures Gabriel Attal.
For the Minister of the Budget, the idea of favoring trades in tension is relevant. “Part of our economy runs thanks to immigration”, he assures the microphone of Europe 1. “So I think that these announcements are perhaps, a breath of fresh air for the bosses”, who have need these people,” continued the Minister.
“Being clearer” with people in an irregular situation
“I take on this project as a minister,” he continues. Because the Minister of Budget and Public Accounts wants to fight against a scourge: undeclared work. “Today, our public finances are losing between 5 and 6 billion euros because of undeclared work”, he insists at the microphone of Europe 1. And to add: “We have to get out of a form of hypocrisy around moonlighting (…) Yes, today, there are people in France who work moonlighting, we all know that”.
But the former government spokesman announces it: we must be firmer on the subject of immigration. “Those who are not destined to stay in France must leave”, he insists, specifying that this bill “will also make it possible to be clearer”, with people waiting for a residence permit, or of nationality.
