Immortals of Aveum is a flop, the developers are already suffering

Founded in 2018 by Bret Robbins, former creative director at Electronic Arts Then Sledgehammer Games, Ascendant Studios released its first game last month. This is’Immortals of Aveuma first-person action game with magic, but the title did not meet with the expected success on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Polygon got wind of an internal meeting at Ascendant Studioswho admitted that sales of Immortals of Aveum were not good. To ensure its survival, the studio therefore made the decision to lay off around 40 employees, which had counted between 80 and 100 until now. Sad information confirmed by Bret Robbins subsequently, the latter claiming to have dismissed 45% of the workforceAscendant Studiosbut invites other studios to recruit these qualified artists and engineers.

According to SteamDB, Immortals of Aveum has not even managed to attract 800 players simultaneously since its release on Steam, and the average is currently around fifty players. The evaluations are “rather positive”, but the title requires a high-end PC to launch, with an i7-9700 and an RTX 2080 Super at least, an i7-12700 and an RTX 3080Ti being recommended…

Suffice it to say thatAscendant Studios doesn’t start his adventure in the best possible way, it remains to be seen what the studio will do in the future. You can still find Immortals of Aveum has €62.99 (- 21%) on Amazon.
