(dpa) Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot during a protest march on Thursday. Khan was shot in the leg and is in stable condition, his spokesman and party officials said. The incident took place in the central province of Punjab. It was not immediately known who was behind the crime. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the act.
Imran Khan was ousted as prime minister in April by a vote of no confidence. Since then, he has regularly taken his followers onto the streets. Since last Friday he has been on a protest march across the country demanding new elections.
