In 1974 she was awarded the Kainz Medal, in 2003 with the Golden Decoration of Honor in Vienna, and in 2015 with the Gold Medal of Honor of the Federal Capital. Jesserer was married to the late actor Peter Vogel, who played the leading role in the first two “Kottan determined” episodes. The older of their two sons, Nick Vogel, died as a photo reporter at Ljubljana Airport in 1991 during the Yugoslavian War.
