Heart-wrenching tragedy in Upper Austria: a boy († 2) froze to death in the freezing night while searching for his parents. He left the house in Vorderweissenbach through the unlocked door when his parents (31 and 28) were visiting the neighbors.
On Thursday morning, the little one was found lifeless in the area of the neighbors’ garage, as the news agency “dpa” writes. Any help came too late for the boy – the emergency doctor’s attempts at resuscitation failed.
Baby monitor was switched on
According to the Austrian media, it is not yet known how the drama came about shortly before Christmas. A baby monitor was switched on, but apparently didn’t work.
During the night, temperatures of up to minus ten degrees prevailed. The authorities are investigating suspected negligent homicide.
Meanwhile, the parents are looked after by a crisis intervention team. The mother is reportedly heavily pregnant and expecting another baby. (gin)
