Swiss people who want to go shopping across the border to Austria will have to be prepared for stricter corona measures from Wednesday.
Due to the utilization of intensive care beds in Austria, it is now required to wear an FFP2 mask when visiting a doctor, in public transport or in supermarkets – however, the regulation only applies to unvaccinated people. For everyone else, it’s just a recommendation.
“Employees already overloaded”
The retail sector is not very happy about this decision. The head of the trade association, Rainer Will, told “Oe24”: “The employees are already overloaded, we cannot carry out any checks.” But those who do not carry out controls face fines of up to 3600 euros.
After all: there will be plenty of masks. Supermarkets such as Spar, Rewe and Lidl offer these free of charge in their branches. (bra)
