In Blois, a teacher defends herself in the middle of class

A teacher from the Sonia-Delaunay vocational high school in Blois defenestrated herself in the middle of class on Friday morning.

The vital prognosis of the teacher of the professional high school Sonia-Delaunay de Blois who had defenestrated from the second floor of her establishment in full course Friday morning is no longer engaged, we learned from concordant sources. “His condition is no longer considered critical. She was operated on for fractures in her lower limbs,” the academic director of Loir-et-Cher, Sandrine Lair, told AFP.

“His vital prognosis, committed in view of the conditions of his fall, (…) is lifted”, confirmed the public prosecutor of Blois, Frédéric Chevallier in a press release. According to the first elements collected by the police, the 64-year-old teacher “normally welcomed (…) her students, around twenty, in the presence of another colleague, the class’s head teacher, who came to talk to the students of their internships.

“At one point, the teacher, who therefore did not intervene directly, put on her coat, closed it, walked towards one of the windows of the class, reopened her coat, leaned on a radiator which was below the window. , opened the window and threw himself into the void”, without saying a word, detailed the magistrate.

“Lonely, sad, sometimes ‘joking'”

“Nothing had allowed those present, his colleague and the students, to foresee such behavior,” added the prosecution. The teacher first fell “on the roof of a courtyard at a height of 5.75 m and then on the ground, another 2.50 meters lower,” said Mr. Chevallier.

The reasons for his action remain unknown, according to the academy. The teacher was described “as lonely, sad, sometimes ‘joking’ according to pupils, so the fact that she put on her coat and then moved around the classroom did not arouse any particular suspicion about her willingness to throw herself into the void,” said the prosecution.

“The checks made with the management of the establishment and the inspection of the academy do not reveal any particular difficulty of any nature whatsoever for this teacher, in her relations with the teaching body with the management of the establishment or even with the pupils”, specified Mr. Chevallier.

The twenty final year students present at the time of the tragedy, “in shock” according to the firefighters, were taken care of by a psychological cell of the Samu. The other high school students and staff of the establishment received support from the psychological unit of the departmental services of National Education (DSDEN41).

In addition, according to the DSDEN, a video of the rescue intervention was made by students and shared on social networks. “Investigations are being carried out in order to verify this rumor and to allow the Blois prosecution to initiate any useful action or prosecution, if necessary”, reacted the prosecutor.
