To East London, Columbia Road Flower Market is not monarchist land. This charming street so british with colorful doors lives in slow motion during the week and is transformed on Sundays thanks to its flower market. In the aftermath of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the clothes of the inhabitants are not particularly black. The portrait of their late monarch, displayed on many bus stops, in the metro and on billboards elsewhere in the capital, is also not visible. The shops are open and traders are crossing their fingers that the flower market, renowned and touristic, is maintained. Asked about the queen, the inhabitants have – almost systematically – the same reaction: “I am not a royalist. »
