En 1993, Metropolitan Kirill, then number two in the Moscow Patriarchate, created a forum pompously titled “World Council of the Russian People”, bringing together each year around the clergy the representatives of local nationalism with the objective of defending “traditional Russian values”. A sulphurous oligarch, Konstantin Malofeev, subsequently became its kingpin. Accused of subsidizing pro-Russian militias in Donbass since 2014, Malofeev has, however, just resigned from the World Council, apparently over a dispute with the Patriarch.
In 2007, this council issued a laborious program for the transformation of Russia on a basis that would be properly Russian, the “Russian doctrine”. Recently, after the electoral victory of Vladimir Putin in the elections held from March 15 to 17, Kirill convened, on March 27, an extraordinary congress of the World Council of the Russian People to adopt for the power of “recommendations” fascistic on “the present and future of the Russian world”.
This document proclaims at the opening: “The special military operation is a new stage in the national liberation struggle of the Russian people, waged since 2014 on the lands of southwestern Russia against the criminal Kiev regime and the collective West behind it. The Russian people, with weapons in their hands, defend their life, their freedom, their state system, their civilizational, religious, national and cultural identity, as well as the right to live on their own land within the borders of the single state of Russia. From a spiritual and moral point of view, it is a holy war in which Russia and its people, defending the unity of the spiritual space of Holy Russia, fulfill a brake mission, holding back the world from the push of globalism and protecting him from the victory of the West, fallen into Satanism. »
Universal mission
When the operation is completed, the entire territory of current Ukraine will have to enter Russia’s exclusive zone of influence, this document adds. Ultimately, the three branches of the Russian people – Great Russians, Little Russians (Ukrainians), Belarusians – must be united within the same state, and the principle of this “tri-unit” enshrined in law.
The document assigns Russia a universal mission. The geopolitical center of Eurasia, at the crossroads of the global West-East and North-South axes, it must be the regulator of global strategic interests, the pillar of security and a just world order in the new multipolar world.
