Lhe crowd may not be as compact as it was in 1960, but the enthusiasm is there. At the time, when General de Gaulle came to visit New Orleans with his wife, they were 300,000 to welcome them in the streets of this emblematic city of Louisiana, formerly French. For Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, there are several hundred to have gathered in the colorful shopping streets of the French Vieux Carré, the historic heart of the city. Here, 3,000 concerts are organized per month, or 100 per day. Jazz groups play indeed at each crossroads, Cajuns have donned the traditional costumes of the Black Indians. The police make rounds.
