In one week, 65 deaths in nursing homes

In a report published this Wednesday, July 15, the Directorate General of Health announces that 65 deaths have occurred in a week in the Ehpad of France.

The total number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic is 19,579 in hospitals, and 10,541 in social and medico-social establishments. The decline in the number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care continues since since Friday July 10, there were 10 fewer patients out of a total of 482. In 24 hours, 133 new admissions were recorded in hospitals and, in total, 6,915 people are currently hospitalized for a coronavirus infection. In addition, if there have been 26 deaths in hospitals since Monday, there are already 65 in a week in nursing homes.

The region of most concern remains that of Guyana. In a press release, the DGS particularly underlines: "The circulation of the virus remains a concern." According to Olivier Veran, Minister of Health, the situation is also problematic in Mayenne. Indeed, during the peak of the epidemic, the region was not the most impacted, even spared by the health crisis. Nevertheless, for some time cases of infections have been recorded in Ehpad, then in school, showing an increase "exponential" in Mayenne.

A possibility of reconfiguration in the department arises more and more within the population. But the prefect of Mayenne, Jean-Francis Treffel said that it would be a "severe measure" and this is not yet "not in the minds" according to him.
