Rodolphe Belmer becomes the new boss of TF1. The first French group of free audiovisual announced, Friday, September 23, the appointment as CEO of this leader connoisseur of the media and digital sector, long remained at Canal +, then passed by Eutelsat and Atos.
Mr. Belmer will first be proposed to a board of directors on October 27 as general manager, then as CEO from February 13, 2023, the statement said. Known for its flagship channel TF1, the Bouygues group subsidiary also operates TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI, thematic channels and the Newen production studio.
The shareholder of TF1 has therefore decided to replace Gilles Pélisson. CEO for seven years, he had already been preferred Nicolas de Tavernost, the current chairman of the management board of M6, as potential future boss of the large group that was to create the merger of TF1 and M6. This project, nurtured for many months, could not ultimately be carried out: faced with the conditions set by the Competition Authority, the two bride and groom decided to give up on joining, Friday, September 16.
However, the Bouygues group has not forgotten its plan to change the head of its media flagship. The press release, however, takes care to salute the action of Mr. Pélisson who, removed from the operational management of the group, will become chairman of the board of directors, then deputy general manager of the Bouygues group in charge of media and development from February. 2023.

For Mr. Belmer, it is a homecoming. Without a post since his hasty departure from the general management of Atos on July 13, a position he only held for six months due to disagreements with the board of directors of the IT group, the future CEO of TF1 is a media man. After starting out in consumer products at Procter & Gamble upon leaving HEC in 1992, then spending three years in consulting at McKinsey, Mr. Belmer joined Canal+ in October 2001 as director of strategy and development for Canal+ Distribution and CanalSatellite.
