In Salzach – Drama in Bruck: The search for Bub continues

The desperate search for the four-year-old in Bruck continued on Monday. There is no trace of the boy. While splashing, he was washed into the Salzach in the Brucker See Canal.

In the early hours of the morning, the emergency services resumed the large-scale search for the missing four-year-old on Monday. 30 men from the water rescue team and the local fire brigade searched the Salzach between the site of the accident and the Bruck power station. Several boats drove the route with body tracking dogs.

Conditions for the divers are still bad
The hope of finding the little one alive again is increasingly waning. “We’re doing everything we can to find the boy. But the conditions are still a challenge because of the poor visibility and strong currents, ”reports Herbert Gewolf, head of the water rescue team.

After all, the level of the Salzach fell because there were no major thunderstorms on Monday night. The large number of emergency services was further increased in the evening: 85 water rescue workers and additional forces from the local fire brigades, the Red Cross and the police were on duty. The tragic accident happened on Saturday in the Brucker See Canal: around 3:30 p.m., children played in the shallow water of Lake Zell.

When the four-year-old local wanted to cool his feet, the strong current carried him away. The boy drifted off in the estuary area and was washed into the Salzach. His seven-year-old brother immediately jumped after to save the little one – to no avail. Two passers-by were able to pull the elder several hundred meters downstream out of the Salzach – the “Krone” reported. The two could not discover the four-year-old brother, he should have perished immediately. The search lasted until dark on Monday, and the search will then be continued again on Tuesday morning.
