Kind of creature from a night forbidden between Itagaki, Swery and Suda, Showa American Story is presented as an RPG despite its gameplay reminiscent of a mix between beat’em up and TPS. In development on PS5, PS4 and PC but still without a release date, the game takes place in the year 66 of the Shôwa era (which normally ended two years earlier in our year 1989). In the gaming world, the economic superpower of Japan bought the majority of the United States and emigrated en masse to the continent, so Eastern and Western cultures quickly intertwined, not without causing some conflict. But it was an event of a catastrophic nature that changed the face of the world and shattered the established order into a thousand pieces. Much later, a 19-year-old young woman is brought back from the dead after her assassination and discovers a post-apo world filled with living dead, monsters but also people who have survived in the form of factions to perpetuate their origins and beliefs.
At the heart of a Japanese-American post-apo adventure with an 80s flavor, this protagonist named Choko has proven to emit phenomenal power since her mysterious resurrection. She will be able to handle with the same dexterity all kinds of weapons, including bladed weapons and firearms, but also a large drill in reference to a anime well known (but not from the 80s). A young action film stuntwoman who arrived in Hollywood (or rather New Yokohama) with her sister before the disaster that changed the world, Choko will be able to climb on her motorbike to explore the surroundings, but will always end up returning to rest in her faithful campsite. -Customizable and upgradeable car, a base of operations where the player can unlock new skills, expand their wardrobe, eat and indulge in various mini-games. Besides giving a semblance of meaning to this world and accumulating relics in reference to past pop culture, Choko’s objective will therefore be to find his missing sister.
