In Sudan, police fire tear gas to drive hundreds of protesters away from presidential palace

Tension remains high in Sudan, where the police fired tear gas canisters on Monday, December 13, to disperse hundreds of demonstrators, gathered near the presidential palace in Khartoum, to demand civilian power.

Many Sudanese opposed to military power regularly demonstrate to denounce the coup d’état led on October 25 by the army chief, General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Bourhane, and to demand the handing over of power to civilians.
