Made official just a few days ago, GTA VI has recently been the subject of a “demake” on YouTube. And it’s quite successful!

Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, Final Fantasy VII, Demon’s Souls, The Last of Us Part 1… It’s a fact, in the video game world for several years now, the trend has been towards remakes. Remaking is the practice of (re)creating a work adapted from another previously developed production. In the case of GTA VIwe are not talking about a remake, but about “demake”.

After the remake trend, here is the demake?

You may have already guessed, the demake is the exact opposite of the remake. Particularly popular with retrogaming lovers, the practice consists of reimagining a recent game into a resolutely vintage title. If there was a time when this was limited to a GIF or a simple visual, some are now developing trailers… or even complete games!

This was recently the case of Bloodbornebut also Dead Space or even a certain Elden Ring. This weekend, it’s obviously the unmissable GTA VI which inspired a content creator, who took it upon himself to imagine what the game could have looked like, if it had been announced on the first PlayStation.

GTA VI shows up on the first PlayStation

It’s on the YouTube channel of Jushton that we were able to discover this weekend the trailer for GTA VI in the first PlayStation style. The latter was responsible for taking the plans from the original Rockstar Games trailer, but remodeling them with the famous polygons of the time.

Below the video, many people greatly appreciated this 32-bit processing. We can read in particular: “ We need the full trailer! “, ” This is a masterpiece! ”, but also (not without humor) “ So this is what the game will look like on my PC. »

The video also features Tom Petty’s theme music, Love is a Long Road, whose listenings exploded on Deezer and on Spotify following the release of the GTA VI trailer. And who knows, maybe in the future, instead of remakes, some publishers will offer an alternative, demake-type version of games launched on our new generation consoles.

Six years ago, it was Square-Enix which offered a “retro” version of the game Dragon Quest XI: Destiny Fighterswith the possibility of playing in 3D mode, or in 2D mode, Super Nintendo style.

Let us recall in passing that the new Grand Theft Auto is expected sometime in 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. No Nintendo Switch version on the program. The PC version will be available a few months after the launch on consoles, but beware of the numerous viruses already circulating on the web.
