As reported by the Swiss Football League (SFL), the 20 clubs in the Super League and the Challenge League created the regulatory basis for the end of the current season in an extraordinary general meeting held in writing. In addition, the dates for the end of the season and the barrage were set.
All Super League and Challenge League games including Barrage must be played by May 31, 2021 at the latest. The end of the season for both leagues was scheduled for Monday, May 24th. The two barrage games are scheduled to take place between May 25th and 30th.
Different scenarios for Barrage
If a team needs to be quarantined during the barrage phase, there are various scenarios. For example, the barrage could be played at a neutral location or, as the case may be, decided in just one game. With the express consent of both teams, the barrage could, if necessary, be carried out by June 6th at the latest.
Furthermore, the regulations also state that the lot will decide if the barrage cannot be carried out due to Covid.
Points average at the end of the season
So that the remaining rounds and any supplementary games can be scheduled as flexibly as possible, the regulation regarding the number of rest days has been adjusted. If necessary, this will be reduced to one day. Means: If there is no other way, a team that plays on Sunday may already be back in action on Tuesday. Should it still not be possible that all rounds can be carried out in full, the table is determined in the same way as a termination with an unequal number of games according to the point quotient (number of points divided by number of games).
The changes to the regulations have been approved by 13 of the 20 clubs in the Swiss Football League, which is why the new provisions come into force with immediate effect. (pd / red)
