Hobby captain and entrepreneur Günter Stölner (52) from Krems has been sailing from coast to coast in the summer months for 25 years. This year he went with his catamaran “Anna-Lena” and the crew – consisting of daughter Leni, Martin Schalk as well as Maxi and Constanze Teuschl – to the Northern Sporades, a group of islands in Greece. The five Lower Austrians were just sailing past the main island of Alonnisos when suddenly hand signals and warning signals from a motorboat were noticed: “As soon as we recognized the emergency, we immediately changed course and started the engine. But by the time we got to the scene of the accident, the boat had already sunk, ”says Günter Stölner in an interview with the“ Krone ”.
