Four German high-altitude hikers got into mountain trouble on Wednesday when climbing the Gollingscharte in Lungau Göriach. The quartet was surprised by heavy fog at 2,300 meters and couldn’t get any further in the rocky terrain.
The hikers came off the marked trail due to the weather. Finally, they made an emergency call, according to the police report. Mountain rescuers moved out and led the severely hypothermic hikers to the nearby refuge.
