Author Williamson is getting back into the primary election campaign

It’s not just Donald Trump who has to assert himself against internal party competition in the primaries for the US presidential election. Joe Biden also has challengers. Marianne Williamson had already thrown in the towel almost three weeks ago. Now she’s back.
Author Marianne Williamson is re-entering the US Democratic presidential race. “We’re seeing a car accident in slow motion,” said the 71-year-old in a video she posted on X. “There is a fascist at our door at the moment,” she warned, referring to former US President Donald Trump, who is running for the Republican nomination. Biden is not doing enough to defeat Trump in the November election.
Then she lists: The USA needs medical care for everyone, a minimum income and continued wages in the event of illness. The support of fossil energies must be limited, not expanded. The “war on drugs” must end. A ceasefire is needed, she says, without being specific.
Williamson actually dropped out of the running for candidacy about three weeks ago. The incumbent President Biden wants to run for a second term in the presidential election. Within the party, the 81-year-old now once again has Williamson and the largely unknown Congressman Dean Phillips as competitors. However, Williamson and Phillips are considered to have no chance.
In the primary election in Michigan on Tuesday, Williamson received 3 percent of the vote – her name was still on the ballot. Phillips got 2.7 percent and Biden got 81 percent. The remaining voters voted “undecided”. This is likely to be largely a protest against Biden’s support of Israel in the Gaza war. Williamson already wanted to be in the White House for the Democrats in 2020. However, she dropped out of the race before the party’s primaries due to poor poll numbers.
