Well positioned in the top 10 most viewed series currently on Netflix in France, the Flemish production Knokke Off takes us into the intimacy of wealthy teenagers.
Every week, the top Netflix has some nice surprises in store for us. Films or series that are among the most viewed programs without anyone having really heard of them.
Thanks to the recommendation algorithm and effective word of mouth, particularly on social networks, Knokke Off is part of this category. Broadcast in May 2023 in Belgium, it was able to benefit from a free publicity stunt.
This Flemish production, which landed on the platform a little week ago, takes us to the seaside town of Knokke. During a tense summer on the Belgian coast, a group of wealthy friends face the harsh realities of adulthood while struggling between loves and societal pressures.
On paper, Knokke Off is nothing original, but teen series are clearly on the rise on the streaming platform. With a more than average rating of 3.1/5 at present, it ranks far behind other equivalent productions such as Elite or Newport Beach.
But the Belgians praised the series, to the point of making it the fifth most viewed program on the VRT MAX platform. if this article is to be believedthe third most watched series in the country in 2023, which subsequently allowed it to be among the terms most searched for by residents on Google.
A success such as Knokke Off has been renewed for a season 2 which should be broadcast across the border at the end of 2024, with a possible launch as early as 2025 on Netflix.
