In twenty-three years, France has grown by a million civil servants

A new record

In details, the workforce of the State civil service (2,524,000 people at the end of 2020) increased by 6% from 1997 to 2020, + 154,000. Those of the territorial civil service (1,932,000 people at the end of 2020), by 44%, + 549,000. And those of the public hospital service (1,207,000 people at the end of 2020)…
