Although shaken by its illustrious competitors, the giant Netflix remains number 1 in the video streaming. But not surprisingly, its pricing policy can vary exponentially from one country to another.

We are not all in the same boat, with our Netflix subscriptions. The group, which recently announced an end to password sharing, also announced a price increase. And if you consider spending too much money each month to follow your favorite content on the American platform, wait to see how much subscribers installed in other regions or countries of the world can pay. You might fall out of your chair this time. Here are some examples.

Europe, very badly off… Pakistan 6 times cheaper than France

Our media colleagues Android Authority had fun comparing Netflix prices from many countries, ranking three distinct offers. We thus find the Standard (mid-range) and Premium (high-end) tariffs. For the entry-level offer, there was a small problem, because not all countries have four subscriptions, as in France where there are two so-called “basic” offers. The Essential offer is alongside the Standard offer with advertising, which is even less expensive. In the United States, the Essential offer no longer exists, now replaced by the Standard subscription with advertising. These last two offers have therefore been grouped together by Android Authority.

All prices have been converted to dollars, a slightly stronger currency (1 euro = 1.08 to 1.10 dollars in the last 30 days) than our euro. And on this account, Pakistan is the clear winner! On site, the basic offer costs only 1.47 dollars, the Standard package 2.61 dollars, and the Premium offer 3.59 dollars. Egypt (2.27; 3.89 and 5.35 dollars) and India (2.40; 3.89 and 7.84 dollars), preceding Pakistan in the hierarchy.

So, of course, these tariffs are not freebies to local consumers. They are actually set according to the purchasing power of the latter and the value of the country’s currency. In general, countries in Asia, Africa and South America are quite significantly cheaper than European and North American nations. In Japan, the world’s third-largest economy, prices range from $6.78 for the basic offer to $13.56 for the Premium subscription, via the Standard offer, billed at $10.20 per month.

…France, moreover beaten by a single country in the world in the realm of the most expensive Netflix prices!

France is simply on the podium of the countries where the Netflix subscription is the most expensive. Remember that, in France, four offers are available to the public:

  • The Standard offer with advertising, at 5.99 euros/month
  • The Essential offer, at 8.99 euros / month (9.82 dollars at the time of the release of the table of our colleagues)
  • The Standard offer, at 13.49 euros/month (14.74 dollars)
  • And the Premium offer, at 17.99 euros/month ($19.66)

Interestingly, of the two most expensive offers, Netflix lined up France with Spain and Germany. The UK ($20.33) and the US ($19.99) are slightly above.

If you come across the Standard offer, France ($14.74) is second only to the United States ($15.49) and offers a more expensive subscription than in Germany and Spain ($14. .20 dollars), as well as in the United Kingdom (13.98 dollars).

France really matches the USA for the prize for the most expensive country, since the Standard offer with advertising only costs, once converted into dollars, 50 cents less in France than across the Atlantic.
