“Misleading ads on Twitter that contradict the scientific consensus on climate change will be banned in accordance with our inappropriate content policy,” Casey Junod said on Friday. “We believe that climate change denial should not be monetized on Twitter.”

Twitter introduced a feature last year that allows users to find conversations specifically about climate change on the platform.

“We recognize that misleading information about climate change can undermine efforts to protect the planet,” Junod said. “More than ever, meaningful climate protection measures, which emanate from all of us, are of decisive importance.”
