Rescue teams are searching in Norway for a possible crashed US Air Force plane that was taking part in a NATO military exercise. Four marines were on board, American media reported on Friday evening (local time). A spokesman for the US Navy only confirmed an “incident” but gave no further details. According to him, the plane was in Norway, which shares a border with Russia, as part of a major defense exercise “Cold Response”.

The main part of the defense exercise began on Monday. The maneuver, in which Germany and numerous other NATO members are involved, is scheduled to end on April 1st. The main activities should first be on water and in the air. “Cold Response” takes place every two years in wintry conditions in Norway. Around 30,000 soldiers from 27 NATO and partner countries are involved, including thousands of land, sea and air forces.
