To return Minecraft playable in Minecraft ? It’s not necessarily very useful, but it’s the feat achieved by an extremely patient player. An absolutely crazy project that took weeks of work…

And all this was made possible only thanks to the possibilities offered by Mojang’s game.

A computer like no other

Over the years, the community Minecraft has never ceased to impress us with its ever more ambitious creations. Users have thus been able to reproduce emblematic places “cube by cube”, such as Hogwarts castle or Disneyland Park. Today, a completely different project is presented to us.

Indeed, several players have been working for long weeks on the design of the Chungus 2. Behind this name hides an astonishing computer made in Minecraft. The virtual machine runs thanks to the components of the game. There are torches, pistons, levers or even redstone whose purpose is to make the whole fully functional.

A fairly basic Minecraft, but running

Basically, the very first version of Chungus allowed you to play only low-powered titles like Snake Where Tetris. This second iteration goes much further since its components have been improved. There is for example a 1 Hz processor accompanied by an AMOGUS graphics card and its 6 KB of video memory. All on a 96 x 96 pixel screen that can only handle two different colors. This is obviously not a dream, but for a computer in Minecraftit’s not so bad !

On this device, the Microsoft title works in 3D in a necessarily reduced version. However, many mechanics like resource mining and tool crafting are there. Thus, the person behind this initiative was able to create a small house. Note in passing that the game runs very slowly and that several days are needed to generate a 3D image. So the video above was sped up about 2 million times to get a “smooth” look.

We can still salute the achievement!
