They are images that shock. The fatal accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday at an unguarded level crossing on the Mattigtalbahn in the town of Achenlohe near Munderfing. The truck driver may have overlooked the approaching train. The train driver was unable to prevent the collision. The impact split the truck in two – exactly at the height of the driver’s cab. In the end, the cab with the driver was on one side of the tracks, the truck trailer on the other. The train came to a stop several meters later. The rescue workers were quickly on the scene. The driver of the truck suffered unspecified injuries. According to initial information on site, train passengers were not injured.
