After the mobilization in the street this Saturday, it is the turn of the ecologist deputy Sandrine Rousseau to once again express her disagreement with the pension reform wanted by the government. Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / CNews / Les Echos, the politician returned to the question of the senior index. This measure presented in the second article of the reform aims to promote the employment of seniors, by obliging companies with more than 300 employees to publish indicators relating to their rate of employment of employees over 55, d by July 2024.
The senior index finger, a “lettuce leaf”
A “complete deception” for Sandrine Rousseau, who tabled an amendment against article two, renaming it “lettuce leaf”; an amendment since withdrawn. “Why did I file it? Because in fact, (…) we have a reform which is very hard for people, for people, for their lives. And alongside that, we are given a senior index which has no kind of binding nature, that is to say that just, we will have to publish figures. And then nothing else happens, “denounces the MP.
“So I have already compared it several times to the salad leaf that you put in a dish at the restaurant. Because it is decoration and it does not change anything in the philosophy of the reform”, she adds. For Sandrine Rousseau, the reform completely misses what it should deal with: work and working conditions.
Forgotten illnesses and accidents at work
“There is nothing about working conditions. France is the country in Europe which has the most work accidents, which has the most deaths at work”, she says. “And those who have suffered this can no longer work at 63. We talk about retirement without ever, ever talking about work,” she insists.
According to a manifesto from the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), which is based on figures from Eurostat, the number of deaths at work has decreased over the last ten years in Europe, but it has increased in France: from 537 in 2010 to 803 in 2019.
