Prince Charles’ goddaughter has married her partner David Flint Wood after 25 years of relationship.
It’s been 40 years since India Hicks, 54, as one of five bridesmaids, witnessed firsthand how Lady Diana, † 36, and Prince Charles, 72, tied the knot on July 29, 1981 in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London . Now, after 25 years of relationship, she is stepping down from the altar herself, married her husband yesterday (September 10, 2021) at Brightwell Baldwin Church.
India Hicks gets married in a dream made of rough lace
The 54-year-old climbs out of a classic car in an A-line with long sleeves and coarse lace. In her hand a beautiful bouquet of white flowers and green eucalyptus. Due to the midi length of her dress, the eye falls on her dizzying high pumps – also in a cream-white. The British designer and author wears her hair parted in the middle and tied in a deep bun. An almost floor-length veil made of tulle is attached to it.

This is exactly what India Hicks was responsible for at the wedding of Diana and Charles: Together with the bridesmaid Sarah Chatto, she paid attention to the 7.62 meter long train of Princess Diana’s dress. For her own wedding, she chooses a shorter version that is the same length as her wedding dress. But she also has five bridesmaids – like Diana at the time.
Prince Charles is said to have asked her
India Hicks was the second oldest bridesmaid at Princess Diana’s side at the age of 14. Her mother is the cousin of the late Prince Philip, † 99, – that makes Prince Charles India’s godfather. It should also have been the one who asked her if she wanted to be a bridesmaid.
India Hicks works as an acclaimed interior designer, creative director and writer. She also trained as a photographer. She not only stood behind, but also in front of the camera – India was featured in campaigns for Ralph Lauren and Tod’s, among others. The Briton has been together with her husband David Flint Wood for 25 years and the couple have five sons.
