“Indiana Jones 5” streaming: When will “The Wheel of Destiny” appear on Disney+ and Paramount+?

DISNEY+

You can already buy “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny,” but when will Indy’s final adventure finally start on Disney+ and Paramount+?

  • “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune” wasn’t the success Disney was hoping for in theaters.
  • The conclusion of the “Indiana Jones” series can now be purchased digitally and the Blu-Ray is also in the starting blocks.
  • But when will the film be released on Disney+ and Paramount+?

Disney certainly imagined the glorious finale of the “Indiana Jones” saga differently. “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and immediately received bad reviews – did the Cannes audience simply have too high expectations or no interest in popcorn cinema?

However, after the actual theatrical release of “Indy 5”, things didn’t go any better for the film and not only did the reviews leave something to be desired, the viewer numbers weren’t right either. Above all, the story and the big twist of the film were received negatively, and many fans also considered the film to be an unworthy farewell to the cult figure, who sometimes seems like a supporting actor in his own film.

Just two months after its theatrical release, “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” left theaters as a loss-making business, and stream revenue is unlikely to make the film a hit.

“Indiana Jones 5” on Disney+ from November?

Since August 29, 2023, “Indiana Jones 5” has been available to all film fans who didn’t want to leave the house for Harrison Ford’s final appearance with hat and whip. You can buy the film digitally on Amazon or iTunes for 13.99 euros, but you cannot rent the film yet.

However, anyone who has a Disney+ subscription and is waiting for “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” to land in the streaming service’s new releases program will have to wait even longer, although no official date has been set yet. Initially, it was assumed that Disney+ would also use the release strategy of “The Little Mermaid” for “Indiana Jones 5”.

“Arielle”, just like “Indy 5”, could be purchased digitally two months after its theatrical release, namely since July 25th, 2023. The film has been available to watch on Disney+ since September 6th, i.e. 43 days later. According to this logic, “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” should have been released on Disney+ in mid-October.

Since there is still no information about the Disney+ release, Disney is probably taking more time here. However, the start of sales of the Blu-Ray for the film offers further information.

For the USA, “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” has been announced for December 5, 2023 on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray. In most cases, Disney productions now start on Disney+ and are only released in home cinema a few weeks later.

That would mean that “Indiana Jones 5” would probably land on Disney+ around the beginning or middle of November. The latest possible stream date is December, but based on current information we expect Disney+ to launch in November.

Is Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune coming to Paramount+?

The first four “Indiana Jones” films are currently available not only on Disney+, but also on Paramount+. That’s because all of the “Indiana Jones” films were made by Lucasfilm, a production company that has been part of Disney since 2012. However, Indiana Jones 1-4 were released by Paramount Pictures.

“Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” is now also a Lucasfilm production, but Disney took over the marketing and publishing alone, so Paramount was not involved in the latest Indy adventure. It is therefore unlikely that “Indiana Jones 5” will be shown on Paramount+.

However, it cannot be ruled out that there will one day be a deal between Disney and Paramount whereby both streaming services would offer all 5 Indy films. For the time being, Disney+ will probably be the only streaming home for “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”.
