In Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, in theaters since June 28, Harrison Ford bids farewell to the famous saga by embarking on a fifth and final quest. Back in the archaeologist’s costume at 80, the American actor is not the only one to return to James Mangold’s film.
Indeed, we can also meet John Rhys-Davies, the interpreter of Sallah who already shared the adventures of Indy in the first and the third part. But in the final scene of the film (which is also the last sequence to have been shot by Harrison Ford), another great figure in the saga makes a remarkable appearance: Karen Allen, alias Marion Ravenwood, the great love of Indy .
The one who had helped the archaeologist find the Ark of the Covenant in the first opus, before marrying him at the end of the fourth, is indeed back for a scene full of tenderness directly referring to a mythical moment in the saga.

However, as she recently declared at the microphone of varietyKaren Allen initially hoped to obtain a more substantial role in this fifth installment:
“I don’t know if I imagined we would pick up where we left off, but I always thought it would be a story with Indy and Marion progressing together.”said the actress.
“When Steven [Spielberg] was to direct the film, I think the scripts were more centered around an Indy/Marion story. But when Steven retired and James [Mangold] happened, it started from scratch with new writers, and they went in a different direction.”
Despite this change, Karen Allen also clarified that she was delighted to have been able to share a last sequence with Harrison Ford, at the end of this fifth part:
“I was deeply happy that Marion would return at least at the end of their story. If this is really the last film in this saga – if it is the last story with Harrison in Indy and me in Marion – I I was deeply happy that they were finally getting back together. It meant a lot to me, to feel like they were going to ride together into the sunset.”
