Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle: everything fans could have hoped for and more in a first trailer

In January 2021, just after the acquisition by Microsoft, Bethesda and the Swedes of MachineGames announced their next video game project, which to everyone’s surprise will not be a new Wolfensteinbut a game featuring the most famous adventurer of the 7th art, Indiana Jones. With popular licenses like tomb Raider And Uncharted having proven themselves over the years, fans of great adventures against a backdrop of artifact hunting had reason to be curious. Last September, Todd Howard gave us an appointment in 2024 to finally really discover it and it is therefore during the Xbox Developer_Direct of this Thursday evening that he revealed himself for about ten minutes.

Unsurprisingly, since many domain names and a trademark have recently been registered, the game will be named aptly Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Or Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle in our language and will come out this year on Xbox Series X|S, PC and in the Game Pass. If you still resisted the ecosystem of Microsoftit promises to be everything fans of the license expect from a game of the license, with A Indy whose appearance is well taken from that of Harrison Ford !

This adventure will be located chronologically between films The Raiders of the Lost Ark And The Last Crusadein 1937 and was pitched to Lucasfilm by Todd Howard, acting as production director, who had always dreamed of creating a game in this universe and immediately thought of MachineGames to achieve it. We will therefore embody Indiana Jonesplayed by Troy Baker (Samuel Drake in Uncharted 4), but also a certain Gina dubbed by Alessandra Mastronardi. This investigative journalist has been investigating the mystery that will bring them together for a while. Of Marshall College where a thief will break in in the middle of the night to steal an artifact that appears to be of little interest, to the Himalayan mountains, via the Egyptian desert, Sukhothai Park in Thailand and the Vatican, it’s a global adventure that awaits the duo. Indeed, they will realize that the different temples and important places visited are linked together by THE Circulus Magnuscontaining ancestral power.

The confrontations and puzzle resolutions will take place like a FPSbut the cutscenes and movement phases will be in the third person. In short, the best of both worlds. The developers wanted to offer “an adventure above all”, on the border between cinematic experience and game, many stuntmen having been recruited for the motion capture. The essential whipIndy will be usable both to move around, to distract enemies or directly in combat, coupled with a pistol and some good hand-to-hand fist fighting. We can approach situations in different ways by using stealth or opting for a more inward approach. But the heart of the experience will be the puzzles (some optional) and the discovery. And obviously, nasty Nazis will be present with the villain Emmerich Voss, a manipulation obsessive voiced by Marios Gavrilis. Finally, know that the composer chosen for the soundtrack is Gordy Haabwell accustomed to working on projects related to Lucasfilm.
