Ten days ago, he was awarded the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once alongside Michelle Yeoh.
On this occasion, actor Ke Huy Quan recently spoke about his entire career at the microphone of varietyrecounting in particular his first steps as an actor, at the age of 12, in front of the camera of Steven Spielberg.
Interpreter of the unforgettable Demi-Lune, precious traveling companion of the adventurer portrayed by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he remembers the benevolence of the director from the first day of filming:
“I would hear Steven giving me directions, and every time I did something he liked, he would give me a high-five.”
Even if Indiana Jones never crossed paths with Demi-Lune again during his other adventures, Ke Huy Quan says he dreamed of being able to resume his role in the third installment of the saga, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, released 5 years after The cursed temple:

“I secretly hoped so”says the actor. “But honestly, Steven gave me so much – not just one movie, but two [ndlr : Indiana Jones et Les Goonies, produit par Spielberg, et dans lequel Ke Huy Quan interprétait le jeune Data]. And they were the first to put an Asian face in a big Hollywood movie.”
During the Oscars ceremony, Ke Huy Quan was finally able to find his friend Harrison Ford, who came to present the final statuette of the evening:
“When he opened that envelope and read the title, it made this Best Picture award that much more special.”told the actor, still at the microphone of variety. “When I got on stage, I pointed at him, and he pointed back at me, and I hugged him. I couldn’t help it.”
