Indira Ampiot’s Christmas interview: “My best gift? A family Christmas”

At a time when homes have put up their Christmas trees and the holidays are just around the corner, let’s take the time to spend a few minutes with a personality. For this end of the year, Gala.fr asked several stars to talk about Christmas. A souvenir, a gift… Let’s forget the time for an interview this year which was rich in emotions. Miss France 2023, Indira Ampiot, agreed to take part in the Christmas interview.

Gala.fr: Has Santa Claus ever disappointed you?

Indira Ampiot : When I was little, we had Christmas parties at my aunt’s house. One year, my mother made me believe that she needed my help in the kitchen. I told him that Santa would be arriving soon and that I couldn’t leave for too long. She insisted, telling me it was important. I went there, and in the meantime, Santa Claus came by. At 8 years old, you cry. I was very sad. But hey, I got some nice little gifts. He could have waited for me anyway. I wasn’t very happy (she laughs).

Gala.fr: This year, what does your Christmas list consist of?

Indira Ampiot : I’m not used to making lists. As long as I eat well with my family, it suits me (she laughs). I don’t need any materials or anything. The main thing for me is to spend the holidays with family and have fun.

Gala.fr: For a Christmas meal, what is the essential food?

Indira Ampiot : There are so many (she laughs). I’m going to say Christmas ham. In Guadeloupe, we create ham. It was so good. Sometimes we make it with pineapple, but I don’t really like it. There are some spicy ones, others less so, it’s really so good. We eat this as an aperitif with everyone.

Gala.fr: The kitsch Christmas sweater, are you for or against it?

Indira Ampiot: For ! I like too much ! It’s as ugly as it is beautiful (she laughs). I find it really cocooning.

Gala.fr: What is your favorite Christmas song?

Indira Ampiot : It’s a bit cliché but I think of Mariah Carey. This music is really cool and everyone knows it. There is another one that I discovered last year on the popular Miss France prime table. It is It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Frank Sinatra.

Gala.fr: What is the Christmas memory that is anchored in you?

Indira Ampiot : It was two years ago. It was my last Christmas with my grandmother. My goddaughter had just been born. It was lovely to have a new addition to the family. We had a lot of fun. We had sung nwel (Creole songs, editor’s note) and we all slept at home.

Gala.fr: Is the Christmas tree installed on December 1st or… on the wire, just before Christmas?

Indira Ampiot : Usually, when I was with my mother, we installed it at the end of November. This year, with the election of Miss France 2024, it will be a few days before Christmas.

Gala.fr: What is the best gift we could give you?

Indira Ampiot : I think they’re going to do it to me. It’s a family Christmas. As long as my mother makes me my favorite meal, I’m fine with it and I’m happy. It’s going to be the best Christmas.

Gala.fr: After Christmas, it’s the transition to the new year. How do you view 2024?

Indira Ampiot : 2024 is going to be an eventful year but less than that of Miss France. It will be more stable. I think I’m going to discover lots of things and I’m going to have fun. I’m going to step out of my comfort zone like I’m going to a country I don’t know. I have never been to London. Afterwards, it will be a fun year.
