The WiTricity company has announced the implementation of a beta version of a package allowing a selection of electric vehicles to be recharged wirelessly using a inductive charging
.

For the moment, only the Tesla Model 3 will have access to this test package, but other brands will follow soon.

To park is to recharge

WiTricity Halo Charging is a turnkey solution aimed at modernizing the way to charge your electric car. The installation proposed by the American company offers 11 kW of power and will, according to the teams, make it possible to charge your vehicle by induction as quickly and more simply as a wired charging station.

At the moment, only Tesla Model 3s with the equipment since October 2021 will be entitled to this improvement package, but it is reported that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is being converted to benefit from this system and that “ other vehicles are in the pipeline “.

Concretely, the package consists of three elements: the wall box, directly connected to the electrical system of the house; the charging block to be placed directly on the ground or underground (for example for public transport services); and finally the receiver block under the car. A system wanted to be simple and aimed, among other things, at households, who can easily install it in their garage.

The beta version of the WiTricity Halo Charging is planned in the United States on very limited models whose selection should be extended from 2023. No word on the other hand on the export beyond the American borders.
