The company ALiner from the USA has been around for over 30 years and you can also buy folding caravans like the Ranger 12 in Germany. We checked out the 2023 version at the Abenteuer Allrad.

Every tent fabric eventually reaches its limits. When it rains for days, many pop-up roof and tent fans want nothing more than a solid roof over their heads. This folding trailer from the USA offers just such a thing. Take a tour of the 2023 version of the Ranger 12.
A-Liner Ranger 12 in pictures
In front of us is a very inconspicuous trailer with a 100 km/h approval, which is a bit reminiscent of the folding trailers from the GDR era. The Ranger 12 is closed and without the tiller only 3.74 meters long, 1.60 meters high, weighs 630 kilograms empty and can weigh up to 1,300 kilograms.
Set up within 30 seconds
The highlight: in half a minute, after a few simple folding processes, we have an A-shaped, stable construction in which up to three people can sleep. You don’t need any tools or anything like that. Even in the pouring rain you have accommodation within 30 seconds.
Inside, things are less cramped than expected. The highlight is of course the enormous height. There is a sofa and lots of plexiglass windows that open, but didn’t feel the most sturdy to us. In addition, a fan permanently installed in the ceiling provides fresh air. We almost get the feeling that we are in a tiny house and not in a folding trailer. A small kitchenette (gas cooker and refrigerator) is also part of the equipment. There is also the option of installing an outdoor kitchen.
price and availability
The ALiner Ranger 12 is available in Germany (sold by Camp Impuls Karlsruhe) at prices starting at 24,500 euros. The price applies to the 2023 version, the previous year’s model was even cheaper at 21,900 euros.
The model presented here is the second largest. The Ranger 10 and the Scout model are a bit more compact. The ALiner Expedition is one size larger and also has two bay windows.
