Inflation: Bruno Le Maire puts pressure on manufacturers to lower food prices

DECRYPTION – While inflation reached 14% in supermarkets in February, the rise will continue, with an expected peak in June.

The government is once again stepping up to fight against the inexorable food inflation. A few weeks after having imposed an “anti-inflation quarter” on the shelves of supermarkets, he draws a new measure. Its objective: to advance the ebb of inflation by a few weeks.

For now, food prices continue their upward trajectory. Inflation reached 14% in supermarkets in February. The rise will continue, with a peak expected in June. In a report published on Monday, the Banque de France forecasts “increased persistence” of this inflation throughout the first half, “capable of being reinforced” in the next weeks.
