INFO EUROPE 1: business proposals for the presidential election

The countdown has begun and companies intend to weigh in. While the campaign for the presidential election of 2022 is in full swing, the Business Institute is presenting its 15 proposals for the next five-year term on Monday. Proposals that the think tank hopes to find in the programs of the candidates.

To do this, 50 business leaders, from large groups as well as smaller structures, worked on the development of a program which was then submitted to a panel of 120 French people. It is divided into 4 main themes: employability, new organizations and quality of life at work, the best association of employees with the economic success of the company and, finally, the energy and climate transition.

Very current topics

At a time when many companies are struggling to recruit, the think tank relies heavily on training. Labeling and financially rewarding companies that offer a lot of training to their employees, for example, or even promoting, through an indicator, training that leads to shortage occupations.

Another proposal of the Institute: bring the school closer to the company. But how ? By forcing teachers to do internships in companies during their training, for example, but also by offering each class of colleges and high schools to receive regularly, within the framework of hours dedicated to orientation, a witness of the world professional who can explain his profession. “We have to inspire young people,” explains Paul Allibert, the director general of the Institut de l’entreprise.

Another very topical subject that the think tank is tackling: new work organizations, especially since the start of the pandemic. Faced with the rise of telework, he recommends, for example, strengthening the training of managers in psychosocial risks but also defining safeguards to secure the companies that use it. A new legal framework that could reassure and convince reluctant companies.

Finally, in terms of purchasing power, the think tank suggests reducing taxation on profit-sharing and participation in order to increase the share received by employees.
