What is the assessment of the mental health of the French? On the occasion of his trip to Lyon this Friday, the Minister of Health François Braun will take stock of the government’s roadmap “Mental health and psychiatry” launched in 2018, enriched by several measures in 2021. Europe 1 reveals a preview of the conclusions of this report.

Strong demand for reimbursed psy sessions

The “My psych course” system, which allows eight sessions to be fully reimbursed, has been widely used. Launched less than a year ago, more than 90,000 patients have already benefited from it. Today, you have to go through your doctor to get a prescription for these free sessions. The government plans to give midwives the possibility of sending their patients to psychologists when they spot signs of postpartum depression. Because the beneficiaries of “My psy course” are mostly women.

The 3114 works

Another measure that worked: 3114, the suicide prevention call number set up in 2021. It received more than 210,000 calls. Supplemented by the “VigilanS” plan which allows recontacting a person who has attempted suicide. 40% of recurrences of suicide attempts would have been prevented.

In addition, in the coming months, the Minister of Health wishes to focus on precarious populations: 500 psychologists and nurses will be recruited to intervene in places of accommodation and reception.
