According to information from Europe 1, twelve migrants fled Wednesday evening from the administrative detention center (CRA) in Metz by exploiting a design flaw in a lock. Three of them were released from prison.

The migrants undoubtedly took advantage of the chaos inside the Metz administrative detention center (CRA) to pack up. According to information from Europe 1, twelve of them missed the 9 p.m. call on Wednesday evening.

Strong tensions and the beginnings of riots inside the CRA did not allow the police to accurately count the number of detainees. It was only later, using video surveillance images, that the police realized that at 8:44 p.m., a dozen migrants had managed to get out of the detention area.

They achieved this by crocheting security gates using an artisanal hook made on site. The latter then walked along an access road to leave the CRA and gain, by climbing a fence, the grip of the gendarmes. According to the first elements, the migrants exploited the design flaw of a lock which only benefited from a bolt shield placed only on one side.

According to information from Europe 1, one of the fugitives was arrested after falling and being injured. He was taken into custody and then taken to hospital.

Of the twelve fleeing migrants, aged 18 to 32, two of them are Moroccans, nine are Algerians and one is Libyan. Six of them had been placed in CRA after a police custody for thefts or violence, three of them had just left prison. The prefect of Moselle, Laurent Touvet, went there.
