According to information from Europe 1, Emmanuel Macron continued his speech as follows: “The 21st century is the century of regeneration. And this regeneration orders you to reconnect with the spirit of the French Revolution. I have chosen to France the youngest Prime Minister in its history: it’s not a risk, it’s an opportunity”, he declared before continuing.

You are not only ministers , you are the soldiers of Year II of the quinquennium. I do not want ministers who administer, I want ministers who act. I do not want managers, I want revolutionaries. This government has only one slogan: audacity, more audacity, always audacity. This government will be that of republican discipline. I do not want states of mind, I want records of service.”

During this first Council of Ministers, the president also asked the new members of the government “for solidarity and speed, which are the condition for effectiveness (…) I expect results from you, again results and always more results (…). You embody the return to the sources of what we are, surpassing ourselves in the service of the country, the spirit of 2017. It is a historic responsibility.
