Ingrid Chauvin (Josephine, guardian angel): “Mimie Mathy knows Tomorrow belongs to us better than I do”

TF1 is broadcasting this Monday evening a new episode of “Joséphine, guardian angel” which welcomes Ingrid Chauvin as a luxury guest. The star of “Tomorrow belongs to us” tells us all about her reunion with Mimie Mathy and her sports character.

A week after the return with great fanfare of Tomorrow belongs to us, which continues to thrill viewers with its choral intrigue “Huis clos” every evening of the week, Ingrid Chauvin once again creates the event by giving the reply to Mimie Mathy in a new episode of Joséphine, guardian angel broadcast this Monday, December 26 at 9:10 p.m. on TF1.

In this unprecedented mission entitled “Toughen the test”, Joséphine finds herself in a family of sportsmen. His client, Laure, has a 17-year-old son, Julien, who only dreams of going to live alone far from her. The relationship between the mother and the son is very conflictual, and it only gets worse when Julien gets fired from CREPS, the training center for top athletes where his mother works.

To appease the family and renew a love relationship between Laure and her son, Joséphine has an idea: suggest that Julien take part in the XL triathlon at La Grande Motte. A super intense test that will prove to everyone what he is capable of. But that was without taking into account Laure’s buried fears and anxieties which will explode in broad daylight in the face of the challenge of this competition.

On the occasion of this episode necessarily eagerly awaited by fans and followers of Ingrid Chauvin, the star of Tomorrow belongs to us talks to our microphone about her reunion with Mimie Mathy, whom she had already met during an episode of Joséphine, guardian angel five years ago, the Sète filming of this parenthesis as a bonus with Fabrice Deville and Grégoire Paturel, and her desires for comedy.

AlloCiné: You had already played in Joséphine, guardian angel in 2017. What made you want to come back five years later, in the shoes of a brand new character?

Ingrid Chauvin: The subject above all. It is a beautiful family subject, very strong. And then I really wanted to find Mimie Mathy. It was a nice meeting. We both really liked each other, we liked working together. So it was a great opportunity to get together and tour together again.

What aspects of your character and the plot were you particularly interested in? And how did you approach the conflicting relationship that unites Laure with her son, who wants to live away from her at all costs?

I don’t experience quite the same thing with my child, but despite everything I am with my son in an overprotection which sometimes is subject to reflection, even with his young age. He tells me “But mom, I’m big, I know how to do it” (laughs). I recognized myself, on a totally different scale of course, in what my character is going through.

The “fight” of this mother who has gone through an ordeal with her child and who inevitably has a trauma with which she must live and which she must overcome in order to be able to give wings to her son so that he can realize himself. It’s a story that really touched me.

Is there a sequence from this episode of Joséphine, guardian angel that you particularly remember?

Emotionally speaking, the ending scene is very strong. In addition, we shot it on the last day, it’s the end of the story, it’s a very beautiful sequence, but I can’t say too much about it, I don’t want to spoil the public’s pleasure.

And there is also this moment in the episode where the mother realizes that ultimately it is her “fault” and that she must take it upon herself to let her son grow up and try to achieve his dreams. It’s a moment when the characters are at home, on the terrace, and I remember a scene that was very emotional, it was very touching.

Ingrid Chauvin and Mimie Mathy meet again for an episode of Joséphine, guardian angel.

This new episode is broadcast on December 26 on TF1. Do you see this as a nice Christmas present for fans of Joséphine, guardian angel and for your audience?

Yes, it’s a time when everyone is with family so it’s ideal. It’s true that we are in full sun because we shot in Sète in September and October, the weather was still very nice (laughs). But precisely it will bring a little warmth to the public. I didn’t expect this episode to be broadcast so quickly on TF1, but so much the better, it’s perfect for the end of year celebrations.

Was it a request on your part that the episode be shot in Sète?

I confess. Indeed, it was a bit my condition. As a mother, I can’t get away from my son, he remains my priority. So, to please myself with projects, yes, but I want to be able to be present in the morning and in the evening for my son. It was my condition and it made Mimie happy who found the sun and the sea again.

And then we were close to Tomorrow belongs to us, which she adores. She appeared in the series in 2018 and is a great faithful of Tomorrow belongs to us. She knows the show better than me (laughs). She knows more about what’s going on than me, it’s crazy.

Is it also planned that Mimie Mathy resume her role of Penelope in Tomorrow belongs to us?

What is certain is that she would love to come back for a little wink. It’s not planned but I hope it can happen one day, even if it’s not easy because she played the aunt of Lucie (Lorie Pester) who is no longer in the series today.

After this episode of Joséphine, guardian angel, do you continue to discuss with TF1 possible TV films or mini-series in which you could play alongside Tomorrow belongs to us?

Not really, I admit (laughs). I work so much that my current pace suits me well. Of course I could pursue projects with slightly more involved roles, but it’s not an obsession. If it has to happen, it will happen. My son is six years old, he is small, he needs his mum, and I need him. My priority is there today.

Tomorrow, when he grows up, why not. And I could perhaps approach subjects and roles with a little more maturity, it can be interesting. For the moment I had the chance to play in Joséphine, guardian angel. It was a very nice experience. To also find the conditions for a bonus shoot, because it’s not the same thing at all. But I have Tomorrow belongs to us, I have my family life, I am well.

We know, however, that you have a desire for comedy…

That is true. I would love to do comedy. I keep saying it. It’s a bit complicated, it’s a long time coming on Tomorrow belongs to us. I’m not sure that’s actually the signature of the series. But in other projects it would be great. As in La Vengeance au triple gallop on Canal+, even if there we were squarely in pure parody. It was awesome. So yes, comedy, it would be a very nice gift. Maybe I’ll ask Santa (laughs).
