This episode of Inside Star Citizen is the last of the quarter corresponding to patch 3.17. The developers present us with a new ship, the Expanse, then Jared Huckaby reviews the novelties and improvements of the patch which has just passed in wave 1 on the test servers.
Expanded
As part of the mining gameplay loop, you have to detect deposits, extract ores from them, process them in a refinery and then sell the materials that come out. For this, exploration, mining, refining and transport vessels are used. However, until now, an essential link was missing: no refining ships were offered.
Expanse is therefore correcting this situation by offering a early career option for refining. With it, you no longer need to go to a station to refine, everything can be done on site.
It was the manufacturer MISC who was chosen for this ship, because the idea he had of the device fitted perfectly with the range and the style of the manufacturer.
The Expanse is a one-man ship. It is accessed by a ramp located forward, which leads to a small room with an elevator to go up to the main deck. This is divided into three areas: At the front, the cockpit typical of the MISC brand (visibility in the form of a narrow horizontal band); In the middle a residential area; At the rear, a refining process control room.
ùTo fulfill its role, Expanse has eight transport bags and six reactors. The purpose of these is to carry out the treatment process. At the choice of the operator, six different processes can be carried out in parallel in the Expanse, where he can concentrate the power of all or part of the reactors on a single treatment.
The developers remind that the Starfarer also has a refining function, but that the latter is specialized for the generation of fuel.
