Last week, Insomniac Games was the victim of an attack by a group of hackers calling themselves Rhysidawhich as the site then reported Cyber Daily (attention, a visual shows part of the documents), declared that he had in his possession numerous details concerning Marvel’s Wolverinebut also personal data of studio employees, a document linked to Yuri Lowenthal, who lends his voice to Peter Parker in games Spiderman from the studio, and much more. These criminals then threatened to auction this information within 7 days for a starting sum of 50 Bitcoins or 2 million US dollars, promising that there would be only one buyer. Sony had recognized this cyberattack and said it was investigating. Last night, the deadline came to an end, causing even more pain for the studio.
Always according to Cyber Daily (same remark as before), 98% of the data was not sold and therefore was put online. With initially 1.67 TB and more than 1.3 million files, this is a big blow for Insomniac and you will have to be extremely careful if you do not want to be spoiler Marvel’s Wolverinebecause it goes much further than Daniel Richtman’s very nice rumor from last month. This group also declared that they had hacked the studio solely motivated by money…
Obviously, we will not share any stolen documents here. However, it is difficult to look away from the list of future games that could be developed Insomniac Gamessince simply searching for the studio on Twitter / X puts it before our eyes.
Still in the article from Cyber Dailyit is thus mentioned thata publishing agreement signed by Isaac Perlmutter (Marvel) and Jim Ryan (Sony Interactive Entertainment), the terms of which were valid until July 26, 2021 and which was to give rise to the creation of three games X-Menstarting with the one on Wolverinethe release of which should then have occurred before September 1, 2025. The two other titles not named in this agreement had release deadlines set for December 31, 2029 and December 31, 2033, all with a budget of 120 million dollars per game.
Except it doesn’t stop there. InsiderGamingamong others, shared the information revealed by a roadmap recent which would date from July 2023. Besides Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which was published on October 20 and the game on Logan, there are therefore three unofficial games which appear there, as well as the mention of a new license in the future. And taking into account the targeted exit periods, the agreement mentioned above therefore seems to have been revised. Here is what we should expect for the coming decade:
- Marvel’s Venom – End of 2025
- Marvel’s Wolverine – End of 2026 (DDE)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 – End of 2028 (DDE)
- Ratchet & Clank game – End of 2029
- Marvel’s X-Men – End of 2030 (DDE)
- New license – 2031 or 2032
Nothing really surprising in the end. For the most part, the mention DDE is associated with them, which in English must mean “Delivery Date Estimate”.
And just to make everything clear, last week, it was reported, again by InsiderGaming for example, three projects named: “RCE, Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Verse”. For the record, this RCE must be the abbreviation of Ratchet & Clank Eternalwhich was apparently the code name for Rift Apart. As for the “project” Spider-Versemany jumped to the conclusion that a multiplayer game would be in development, which was in line with some rumors. Since there is no mention of it in this fairly recent document, this may mean that it is no longer on the agenda, or even that it never existed as such. After all, the Peter Parker of the Earth-1048 (that ofInsomniac) appears in the feature film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and a document about an employee mentioned its job as being “additional support for the Spider-Verse”. It wouldn’t be surprising if the studio just helped design the film.
Anyway, lovers of the universe Marvel should therefore have something to enjoy for many more years, while those wanting a new Ratchet & Clank or something new will a priori have to be patient. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is sold for €39.99 on Amazon And to the Fnac if you haven’t done so yet.
