Although Samsung is only now providing some smartphones such as the Galaxy A23 5G with the May patch, the next major update is already in the starting blocks. According to the fan blog SamMobile, this will close 53 security holes.
40 of these vulnerabilities affect not only Samsung phones, but all mobile devices with the Android operating system. The remaining 13 security vulnerabilities relate specifically to Galaxy smartphones. One of these vulnerabilities is classified as “critical” and four are listed as “high priority”. According to Samsung, the remaining eight closed vulnerabilities pose a “moderate” risk.
June security patch reaches more Galaxy devices
You should install the update as soon as it is available for your device. This will protect you and counteract potential hacker attacks.
In the coming days, the security update will first be available on most top models such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra or Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Only then will the older devices follow. This process can take up to a month depending on the priority of your Galaxy device. The region also plays a role. Some countries will receive the update sooner than others.
